CT-Pros has the distinct honor of sponsoring Richard “Maximus” Abraham, an internationally recognized kickboxer and Muay Thai fighter.   Richard will be fighting at the Sears Centre Arena on Friday, August 25th, 2017 at 6:00PM CST.

From Chicago to the World

Richard is a local Chicago native, born and raised in the Streamwood area.  He began his kickboxing and Muay Thai journey in 2009 after a friend took him to a MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) gym and introduced him to the sport.  Once he started learning the techniques, he was hooked and found himself wanting to perfect the art of the sport. Later that same year, he entered his first fight and became 100% dedicated to the sport ever since.

Richard has participated in both national and international competitions including Thailand, Russia, Africa, and Denmark.  His titles include:

• Two time TBA-SA World Champion
• WKA Muay Thai
• WKA Kickboxing
• TBA-SA Regional Champion
• WKA Regional Champion
• IKF Regional Champion
• TBA-SA Winter National Champion
• WKF International World Champion

Sponsorship for Richard is a crucial part of ensuring his ability to receive the proper training, equipment, and marketing required to continue in the sport. Professional kickboxing typically does not generate the level of income required to support a family of five, therefor to pursue his passion for fighting and provide for his family, Richard also holds a full-time job.

“It’s easy to assume that anyone who is a professional fighter like Richard makes enough money from the sport to live on, however this is not the case for a large percentage of fighters in the stand-up striking arts,” explains Eric Peterson, President of Operations at Converged Technology Professionals.  He continues, “Richard is dedicated not only to sport, but he is also committed to fulfilling his responsibility as a father and a husband. His life and actions serve as a positive role model for many young adults who look up to him for inspiration.  We are proud to be one of his sponsors.”

Never a Dull Moment in the Abraham Household

Although Richard has fans around the world, his strongest and closest supporters are his five children and wife who is his business manager.  With such a large family, plus 3 dogs, his 5AM and 7PM practices, along with holding a full-time job to support his family, life in the Abraham household is far from dull.

While it can be challenging to be around as much as he’d like due to juggling the role of dad, professional fighter, and coach, they all agree they’d have it no other way.

What Fuels His Motivation

For Richard, his drive and dedication is fueled by something that runs much deeper than a general passion for the intense and rigorous sport alone.  Sadly, he and his wife lost their first-born son, Maximus, after he contracting a life-threatening infection five days after his birth.

Richard chose to honor and share his son’s memory with the world by wearing his son’s name as his own fighting name for the world to see.  Richard is also driven by a desire to be an example for his second son, Titus, and is motivated to create a legacy for him to follow.

The Future and Never Quitting

Richard’s goals for the future don’t fall short of his already impressive list of achievements.  He aims to win the National World Title Belt and ultimately fight for Team USA and bring home the gold.

Richard’s aspirations are not only for himself, but for helping others as well.  In the fall of 2017 Richard will be opening Maximus Muay Thai and Fitness located in Roselle, IL for the public to have access to training opportunities with Richard and/or his trainers for sparring sessions, Muay Thai seminars, and private sessions.

Knowing all too well that it is not easy to keep fighting when times are rough, Richard continues to serve as an inspiring example that despite the odds, where there is a will, there is always a way.
